About Us

Bergliot Foundation is a Liechtenstein-registered, Zurich-based philanthropic foundation established in 2004. We support initiatives that expand access to education, strengthen health and ethical practice, and advance social inclusion and entrepreneurship. With a mandate that has no geographic limitations, our purpose is to promote learning, research, and responsible action that enable people and communities to thrive.

Guided by the mission of Help-to-Self-Help, Bergliot Foundation focuses on empowerment, resilience, collaboration, and inclusion. Our work creates conditions where people can strengthen their own communities and build lasting, meaningful change.

Over the past 15 years, the foundation’s role has evolved from pure funding to active engagement — applying the principle of Help-to-Self-Help in projects that foster autonomy and long-term impact. Through initiatives rooted in our four core values, we support individuals and communities in building stability and discovering purpose.

Past projects include international business-plan competitions empowering entrepreneurs in Bolivia, Burkina Faso, and Kyrgyzstan.

These initiatives enabled participants - many of them women - to create sustainable livelihoods through seed funding, mentoring, and reinvested revolving funds.

Today, the foundation continues this spirit through focused projects in mental-health resilience, family support, education, intergenerational connection, and ethical creativity - all rooted in the belief that lasting change begins when people become active co-creators of their own future.
